Talk: The Adventures of an Agile Practitioner in the Non-Agile World
This is a story about an agile practitioner who enters enthusiastically into the management of a department in a transition to Agile, just to discover it has a long way to go in this direction. Starting from the initial assumption that her coaching and people development skills will be a good fit to this world, the leader needs to readjust her approach based on the maturity of the team and individuals in it and the level of Lean culture, in order to build the right culture in the team. This session looks at the applicability of a coaching approach in such context, and is aimed to share personal insights on how coaching can help in the process of Agile transformation.
The participants in this session shall learn:
What is coaching and why it is a good idea in a Lean environment
How coaching helps in non-Agile context to build the Lean mindset and culture – based on a real example
What other approaches and behaviors might complement, so that transition happens over time
